Most Russian regions maintain economic ties with Japan — Ministry of Economic Development – Business & Economy

MOSCOW, January 29. /TASS/. No less than 80 Russian regions maintain trade and economic ties with Japan, Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said at the opening ceremony of the Russian-Japanese Year of Regional Exchanges and Twin Cities.

“The future of the bilateral partnership depends on the interaction between Russian regions and Japanese prefectures. Eighty Russian regions currently maintain trade and economic ties with Japan, seeking to secure conditions for investors. Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow region, Kemerovo, Sakhalin and Primorsky top the list in this regard,” Reshetnikov was quoted as saying by the press service of the ministry.

“Today, it is crucial to strengthen regional ties and bilateral cooperation, to share experiences, to find effective solutions and to launch new projects in order to build on what has been achieved. This will give new impetus to our economies and contribute to ensuring the well-being of the people”. stressed the minister.

The parties expressed their confidence that the implementation of the MoU on the Russian-Japanese Year of Regional Exchanges and Twin Cities will facilitate the comprehensive expansion of bilateral exchanges and strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
